It’s time to reclaim some me-time ladies. I’m writing this after a move interstate and as the kids go back to school after 8 weeks of holidays. So basically, when my nerves and sanity are being stretched to their limits and I’m finding myself trying to grab snippets of time to just be.
As women we often put ourselves second whether that be to careers, families, children or just life. Learning to take some time out to physically and mentally recharge is essential. If that means scheduling it in the diary then do it. Self care is about learning to nurture ourselves. Learning to balance the stressors of life and bring a sense of calm and peace to your body and mind. By doing this you will avoid feelings of resentment, low self-esteem and unhappiness.
Self care doesn’t need to cost a lot or be too complicated and time-consuming. There are many ways you can begin to nurture your body and soothe the soul. I have recently made the time (thanks to my wonderful sister and her hand-me-down books) to start a new book. Another go-to for me is making a cup of herbal tea and finding a quiet spot to sit and be. Who doesn’t love to run a warm bath, pop in your favourite salts or bubble bath and soak away. Why not whip up a facemask from ingredients in the kitchen and pop it on while you put your feet up for ten minutes. Treat yourself to a beautiful candle or fresh flowers and let the scent fill the house. Get outdoors, take off your shoes and reconnect with the earth. It’s called grounding and it is a great way to rebalance the body. Sleep. Yep, sometimes elusive but so important whether it be getting to bed early or fitting in an afternoon nap. Essential oils are another one that works brilliantly. There are blends to assist feelings of anxiety and stress or perhaps you feel like something to uplift you.
I could write a novel on this topic but I’ll refrain. I love to encourage others to find little things to do in their busy schedules that will make a big difference in the way you think and feel.
